Setting up your Olympus Recorder - For use with WebChartMD

STEP ONE: Set Your Recorder’s Date and Time 

After loading your batteries into the recorder, you’ll be prompted to set the recorder’s date and time.

STEP TWO: Install your Olympus Recorder software. 

Please insert the Olympus installation disk that came with your recorder.  Your installation disk will automatically present on screen, please click on the installation for “Install English (US) Version.”

If your disk does not automatically open and present the language installation type, please click the START button on your computer, and select RUN. Then enter “D:\setup.exe” in the OPEN field and click OK.  The installation Language Selection dialog box opens. Click the “Install English (US) Version.”

STEP THREE: Remove the Device Detector Shortcut from your Start Menu and Task Tray

1.    Left mouse click on the Start menu button; go to Programs.

2.    Find Start Up in your list of programs, and click on it.

3.    The Device Detector 3 will be seen.  Right mouse-click on Device Detector 3, and click Delete.

4.    A confirmation box will ask if you want to delete the shortcut or cancel it. Choose ‘Delete Shortcut.

5.    At the bottom right of your computer screen, find the icon with the flourescent green screen (see image below).

6.    Right mouse-click on this image, and choose Exit.   This concludes the removal of the Olympus device detector from your Start up menu. 

STEP FOUR: Loading your Recorder’s Drivers

1.    Press “record” button on the side of the recorder.  Let recorder stay in record mode for about five seconds.   Press “Stop” on recorder. 

2.    Plug USB cable into your computer’s USB port, and plug the other end into the base of your recorder.

3.    A pop-up bubble should appear in the bottom right corner of your screen notifying you that new hardware has been detected (see screen shot below). 


4.    A series of 3 to 4 successive messages will appear in the bubble, concluding with a message that reads, “Your New Device is Installed and Ready to Use.”  (see screen shot below).

The Driver has been installed successfully.  This concludes the set-up for your Olympus Recorder.
